If you are expecting a fairytale ending then step inside this story and find out how one bride had to in two weeks unravel a mess from a cruel mother in law to be
What started out to be a joyous time for Chris and I quickly turned sour. This would be my first marriage and Chris's second. My family was so excited and his, was well let's shall we say, ok with the idea. I am a teacher and Chris is studying to be a Mortician. I wanted a beautiful fall wedding nothing fancy or big. Just the family and friends and then a small reception. His mom had agreed to pay for the reception, because the Duval family only does things in the fancy manner. Potluck styles are definitely out of the question. My mom had paid for the the cake. We had hired the DJ. I was personally making all the favors and centerpieces. Then I call to find out when I can drop off these things at the reception only to find out to my stunning surprise that Chris's mom has not booked the reception site as she has said she would. I double checked to make sure there was no mistake. To my dismay there had not been. So Chris quickly goes over to his parents house only to find that his mother did not book the reception site because I did not follow the family protocol and plan the event in the usual 6-9 month pattern as everyone else. That my rude 2 month planning did not give people adequate time to plan for that Saturday event. Well because Chris and I had not budgeted for this I was sure I would have to cancel everything, even though the dresses had been bought the cake paid for.
But surprisingly enough I have wonderful friends. They sat with me through my crying fits for a couple of days then my maid of honour called the local firehouse to see if we could use that. Though not the best place for a reception. I thought well... with a little decoration, some nice music and my friends, family and new husband, this will due just fine. So here we are two weeks before our big day, and Chris and I just have to make sure that we have enough food for 50 people. What started out as a joyous occasion took a turn for the worse, will work itself out in the end because it has to and with some creative work on our part it will.
Thanks for your time and letting me write all that down... It really does help with my frustration level of a very nasty soon to be mother-in -law.
