It was all so sweet, six clues, one for each year we had been together and they all pertained to us. How creative!
One Tuesday I came home from my nursing clinicals to a glittery yellow piece of fabric hanging on my front door. When I walked inside I was just amazed at what I saw. There were flowers all over my kitchen table. There were 20 red roses in a vase, there was also a vase with yellow and white roses and then another basket full of beautiful red and yellow tulips. On each set of the flowers he had put the meaning of the flower and why I was receiving them. Then in a small pink gift bag beside the flowers was a note and a index card. On the note it read, "You are now starting a treasure hunt, there are six clues, each one to be written on the index card given to you. The first clue can be found in the mailbox. When you figure out the first clue call me." Well of course I couldn't wait, so I ran up to the mailbox to get my first clue. Sure enough inside our mailbox was an envelope with my name written on it. Inside was a piece of paper with a world puzzle on it. I had to unscramble the letter to decipher the clue. The first clue was to go to the High School Tennis courts. (That is where we first met, we played tennis together in high school). I called him right away. It was a few days before I was able to go to the tennis courts due to our schedules. When I got to the tennis courts I wasn't sure what I was looking for so I starting examining every ball I saw. Then I found it, he had made a slit in a tennis ball and hidden my clue in it. Inside the tennis ball was a picture of a fish, my "trophy" fish, it was a 13 pound catfish. On the back of the picture it said "origin". Well I then planned on going to the spot on the creek where I had caught my big fish the next day. When I got there, I found a map of a place were Teddy and I used to go hiking a lot with a spot starred. On the back of the map was another world puzzle that he told me would pertain to another clue later on. When I got to the spot where we used to hike a lot, hidden in a small hole in a log was my next clue. On it said "Dad's Basement." I then figured out that the word puzzle on the back of the map went with this clue because I had no idea what I was looking for in his Dad's basement. The unscrambled word puzzle was The Ring by Danielle Steel. Inside the book was the key that lead to and opened my treasure chest where the ring was smartly secured. We are so happy to be engaged and are looking forward to our future together. I just thought it was so sweet that he truly made his proposal and leading up to it so personal for us. He was definately creative!
