Famous Wedding Guests

Some brides might have been embarassed, but not this bride! Thankfully my husband didn't mind having Wizard of Oz characters show up to our wedding reception! You should see the pictures!!!

First, it is important to know that I have been a collector of "The Wizard of Oz" since I was only a tiny child. Now as a 23 year old adult, I have the most beautiful collection ever. Apparently, the people in my family believed that they should incorporate that love within my wedding, and that is exactly what they did. I was so touched that two ladies in my family separatley planned a Wizzy surprise for my wedding reception. The first surprise was something that I never could have expected. My grandmother got on the microphone and explained to me and my wedding guests that there are some people we forgot to invite. I felt horrible! I thought for a moment that my grandmother was embarrassing me at my own wedding and I just couldn't imagine who I forgot! She said she took it upon herself to invite them and they traveled a long way to get there. Skipping in came Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, and Cowardly Lion singing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" right into our wedding reception! It was so shocking and wonderful and I just couldn't believe my eyes! It was actually my very cooperative and courageous aunts and uncles who agreed to getting into the rented costumes and this is what there scene was when they came in... Dorothy: Oh Toto! I don't think we're in Kansas anymore! Scarecrow: If I had a brain, I'd think we were at Sam and Angela's wedding in Eau Claire, WI. Dorothy: Well look! (looks at bride) Is that Glinda, the Good Witch of Eau Claire? Lion: Ohhhhh I'm scared, I'm scared! She's so beautiful and looks so happy! Scarecrow: NO, that's Angela- the magical looking bride and her wizardly husband Sam! Tinman: Oh, my heart feels the love in the room- I'm going to cry! Where's my oil can? Dorothy: I'm so happy the yellow brick road has led us here tonight! Lion: So a toast for these two- May your marriage have the "courage" to survive the rocky waters! Scarecrow: Keep your "smarts" and laugh often! Tinman: Keep your "hearts" filled with happiness and love, Dorothy: and always remember in your future adventures together, "there's no place like home!" Later, my mother wrote a poem which she read for me and my new husband during the wedding dinner... "Angela and Sam, It hurts to see the tinman take our little girl from us, but it doesn't take a wizard to know that you two belong together. Anyone with a brain can see that Sam has a huge heart, and obvioulsy tons of courage and you love eachother very, very much. Sam, you're a great guy and we all love you too. We also know that you will make beautiful munchkins together. Remember though, life isn't alwas a rainbow, the princess may occasionally become a witch and the field of poppies may sometimes take its oll on you. Together you will learn that there are many obstacles on the path of life, yet together you can overcome them all. Now you control your own destiny, however, if the time comes that you need us, all you have to do is click your heels. Mommy and Daddy will always be here at the end of the yellow brick road for both of you. We love you and congratulations! ~Mom and Dad Both of these gestures helped to make our wedding even more amazing. There were a few very confused guests, particulary on my husbands side of the family, who didn't know about my love for The Wizard of Oz. But for the most part, most of our 300 guests understood why the "special guests" showed up, and everyone thought the whole thing was wonderfully special!
