A Wedding Day to Remember

It's amazing how fast the mood can change.

On September 25th, 2004 I, Maura, was married at a small local church to Drexel. The church was all dark wood inside with white flowers decorated. It was all so perfect after 6 years of being together, as high school sweethearts. After the service we rode about 1/2 an hour in a Limo to a Paddle Boat that rode up and down the river for 4 hours. We danced, ate cake, and had a wonderful time with great weather. The day couldn't have been any more perfect. On the way home in the Limo Drexel and I were talking about how everything was so perfect. We were stuck behind an accident on our way home and when my cell phone rang, the mood of the day changed. Our bestman Chuck, which was my brother, totalled our new 2000 Lincoln LS. He was right in front of us. He flipped it up a hill 15 feet in the air with one of our groomsman, Brandon, with him. I got out of the Limo and in my wedding dress ran up and down a dirt hill trying to find Chuck. I found Brandon who had passed out, threw up on himself and was bleeding all over. All in his nice tux outfit. Finally I found Chuck who was crying saying he so sorry he ruined my day. My only older brother who was all banged up. Chuck just wanted to get the car home so we could take it for our honeymoon. There were tears and hugs when I saw Chuck and Brandon in their tuxs covered in blood, but not broken bones. The tow truck man came and asked how many people died. Not only was the car totally crushed, no air bags went off. Needless to say, my husband and I spent that night in our newly built house and borrowed a car to go on our honeymoon the next day!
