Love in Afghanistan

Two and a half years ago I met a man standing at the opposite end of my desk awaiting a meeting with me and my bosses. We engaged in some small talk...and now, the rest of our story...

February 19th, 2009 I arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan where I worked in an Operations office for the ILARNG. SSG (JT)Turnbaugh was what many call "gruff" or "a brut". He has opinions and he's not afraid to share them! At first I was mesmorized by him. We began talking about work when we'd see eachother in passing, then before we knew it we were talking about what life was like back home. Then we started talking about back home as if we were going to see eachother once we got back. Soon after that we were looking for excuses to see one another. JT and I returned home September 11th, 2010. I couldn't wait to see him! We were in different companies. Back in the states we were over three hours from eachother. I soon talked to my boss about a transfer so I could be closer to him. I wasn't sure if it would last, quite honestly...we only knew eachother from deployment. So many things ran through my head. What if we don't last? I will have to find ANOTHER job. What if he ends up not liking me for me? What if I get home sick? But I went for it anyway! Of course we've had our ups and downs but I wouldn't change anything in the world for what I have with him right now. We've been told many times that we just fit together and I truly believe it! I know it sounds corny, but he is my best friend and soul mate. A year after we came home he proposed and we are set to marry on 11-11-11!
